Casino at Home

For many of us, a trip to Las Vegas is a dream come true. However, as any regular Joe will testify it is often a trip too far, after flights and accommodation eat into the all-important casino budget. Increasingly, though, droves of people are choosing to create their own casino experiences at home, be it through their favourite online casino or by creating their own Vegas-style parties.
The Friday night poker game has been a benchmark of many a Hollywood picture or HBO series. Stateside, such meetings are commonplace amongst friends. Now the United Kingdom is seeing an increase in such occurrences, due largely to the fact that games like Texas Hold ‘em offer players the opportunity to sample the same atmosphere as their favourite legends on screen. Banter between rounds over the risks of high stakes (or low stakes, depending on the game and the players) is another great opportunity for friends to give each other a good ribbing, not to mention the odd neat scotch or cigar.
Poker is not the only Vegas export to see resurgence in the home. There are many game providers who offer a complete Vegas-style set, resplendent with Craps felt, Roulette wheel, Baccarat pallet and cards and poker dice. Naturally, the cards can be used for Texas Hold ‘em, draw poker or any other variant favoured by players. Indeed, players can enjoy their very own World Series of Poker should they so wish, whittling away the wee hours until a champion stands alone.
This is the new craze for after dinner parties, as sales of such Vegas sets have soared this year, unsurprisingly given that a buyer can create an effective-looking casino for as little as £29.99. With the reports of such games rife amongst bloggers and the press alike, it is strange that there has - as yet - been no such staging of such an experience on that scrutinizing expose of the dining experience, Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me.
For those who crave an experience that is yet more still complete, there are several companies out there that offer casino hire services. Thus customers can enjoy the authentic casino vibe with professional croupiers, tables and even training for guests in the comfort of their own home.
For the real casino experience the hiring of pros still has the edge over the purchase of a casino set, which would still require fumbling through booklets and manuals regarding rules of games and the allowance of bets. The truth remains that no matter how professional the croupiers or real the tables, the only “real” Vegas experience is Vegas itself.
