Living and Earning the Poker Way

It has probably crossed the mind of just about every
poker
player at some
time or another that he might have what it takes to go full time with his
poker game
. You have read
all of the books, have learned all of the odds and can calculate your outs with
a moments glance at the flop. Night after night, you find that you are bringing
in the money by simply sticking to the tight, aggressive style that always wins
in the long run. You find yourself unstoppable in
poker tournaments
.
Sooner or later, the question starts rattling around in your mind of whether you
have what it takes to make the leap from playing
free poker
for a little extra money
into a full scale career.

The first thing that you need to decide is whether this is a lifestyle that you
really want. Making a living playing professional poker can be a adrenaline
pumping lifestyle that just might let you make a lot of money, but this is not
your usual nine to five job that we are talking about. Professional poker
requires long hours at the table where you have to keep your head straight hour
after hour, day after day, so that you can reap the benefits of solid play. More
often than not, this includes unusual work hours playing poker well into the
early morning hours, and you are often either playing in a smokey room or
grinding it out alone playing online poker. Sometimes you will have to shake of
a series of unbelievable bad beats that really makes a dint in your bank roll.
It's not for everybody.

However, for those who have what it takes, professional poker can offer an
escape from the rat race of the normal job that will have you wondering why you
didn't drop it all and get into this sooner. When you are earning your living
playing poker, your fate is in your hands, and there is nothing holding you back
but your own psyche. Every professional poker player knows the odds and has
found a style of play that works for them. In a way, finding your own successful
style of playing poker is even more rewarding than the money, because it is
simply you out there who is raking in those pots, and you know that what is
making you win is coming straight from something inside of you.
